Planet Zoo 2 Deluxe: What You Get

Quick Answer

Planet Zoo 2 Deluxe includes the base game plus six extra species and exclusive animal signs. Standard can be upgraded separately. The Bonus Content Pack is a different add-on; check your current store bundle before buying.

Planet Zoo 2 Deluxe Edition bundles the base game with the Deluxe Upgrade Pack: six additional animal species and exclusive animal signs. Choose it if those species are part of the zoo you want to build. Standard is the lower-cost way into the same base game, and a separate upgrade is available if you decide later.

The Bonus Content Pack is a different product. Do not assume an old preorder offer is included with a purchase made after launch. Contents and prices below were checked on 20 October 2026; the buying recommendation is based on the listed package, not a hands-on score.

The six additional Deluxe animals

The Deluxe animal list for Planet Zoo 2 is:

Additional speciesIncluded with the Deluxe Upgrade Pack
Golden EagleYes
Golden Lion TamarinYes
Great Hammerhead SharkYes
AxolotlYes
Blue and Gold FusilierYes
Longfin BatfishYes

These six are the edition difference to evaluate before paying more. Do not substitute an animal list from the original Planet Zoo or from a similarly named console upgrade: those are different products.

The pack also includes exclusive animal signs as scenery. The listed purchase contents do not provide a verified number of signs, so there is no sign-count claim here. Owning the pack also should not be confused with having every animal immediately available in every progression mode; this comparison does not establish mode-specific unlock requirements.

Standard, Deluxe and the separate upgrade

ProductWhat the listing establishesSuitable purchase situation
Standard EditionPlanet Zoo 2 base gameYou want the base game and have not decided that the six extra species justify the additional cost
Deluxe EditionBase game plus Deluxe Upgrade PackYou want the game and the six additional species together
Deluxe Upgrade PackSix additional species and exclusive signs; base game requiredYou already own the base game and want the Deluxe additions
Bonus Content PackSeparate themed shop, donation-bin and photo-wall contentYou want those specific scenery items and have checked whether you already own them

The Upgrade Pack is downloadable content, not a cheaper standalone copy of Planet Zoo 2. On Steam it explicitly requires the Steam base game. Choose the add-on for the platform and store where you own the game; a listing on a different storefront does not establish a transferable entitlement.

You do not need Deluxe merely to access the base game's Career, Franchise or Sandbox modes. The edition decision concerns the additional species and signs. Check your intended animals first instead of paying more because the word “Deluxe” sounds like a different game mode.

Dated prices and the cost of waiting

The published recommended prices are:

CurrencyStandard Edition SRPDeluxe Edition SRPEdition difference
GBP£39.99£54.99£15.00
USD$49.99$64.99$15.00
EUR€49.99€64.99€15.00

Those are recommended prices, not a lowest-price comparison or a guarantee of the total at checkout. Account region, platform, discounts and applicable charges can change the amount you pay.

The US PlayStation store showed $49.99 Standard, $64.99 Deluxe, $17.99 Deluxe Upgrade Pack and $2.99 Bonus Content Pack at the check date. The captured Steam Upgrade Pack listing also showed $17.99.

For the US PlayStation prices above, buying Standard and then the Upgrade Pack separately totals $67.98, which is $2.99 more than the $64.99 Deluxe bundle. That calculation is useful if you already want all six species at the time of purchase. It does not mean waiting is always more expensive: a later promotion can change the comparison.

If you already own Standard, compare the add-on price rather than buying a second base-game bundle automatically. Check the store's ownership display before completing the purchase.

Keep the Bonus Content Pack separate

The Bonus Content Pack contains:

  • Toucan Eat Shop and Signage.
  • Three unique animal donation bins.
  • Tiger Photo Stand-In Wall.
Toucan Eat shop and themed signs included in the Bonus Content Pack

These items are not the six Deluxe animals. The launch marketing advertised the Bonus Content Pack as a preorder benefit for both Standard and Deluxe. The current PS5 Deluxe listing identifies its bundle as the base game plus the Deluxe Upgrade Pack and lists the Bonus Content Pack separately.

For a purchase after launch, inspect the live included-items list. Do not pay for the Bonus Content Pack twice if it is already associated with your account, and do not assume the older preorder wording means it comes with every current Deluxe purchase.

Decide whether Deluxe fits your planned zoo

Choose Deluxe when you can name species from the six-animal list that you want to use and the current bundle price is acceptable. It gives you a defined set of additions rather than an unbounded promise about future content.

Choose Standard when your priority is learning the base game or building around other animals, and you would rather decide about the additional species later. The existence of an Upgrade Pack lets you make that decision separately; it does not promise a future discount.

Do not buy Deluxe to solve a platform-support problem, remove a console complexity limit or obtain an unlisted future expansion. No such benefit is established by the package contents. On a supported console, evaluate the controls and build limit alongside the edition choice.
