Planet Zoo 2 has no multiplayer, according to the official FAQ. You cannot invite a friend to jointly build or manage the same live zoo. Its online community features are Franchise animal trading and sharing parks or blueprints through the Workshop, rather than a co-op session.
Which activities involve other players
| Activity | Supported feature | What it does not provide |
|---|---|---|
| Build and manage a zoo together in real time | No multiplayer mode | No shared live building session |
| Obtain animals from other players | Animal trading in Franchise mode | Trading does not give another player control of your zoo |
| Use another player's creation | Download parks and blueprints through the in-game Workshop | Downloading a park is not joining its creator's active game |
| Share creations between PC and consoles | Cross-platform Workshop sharing | Sharing is not cross-platform co-op |
The Steam product description confirms animal trading in Franchise and cross-platform Workshop creations. Its feature list marks the game as single-player. If a user-defined tag says “Multiplayer,” use Frontier's explicit FAQ answer when deciding whether it supports co-op.
Share a creation with a friend
Use the in-game Frontier Workshop for the supported sharing route. You can upload your creations, browse other players' work, download parks or blueprints, and subscribe to favourites to use them in your own zoos.
Both the sender and recipient should be thinking of a downloadable creation, rather than an invitation to a server. A friend on another supported platform can access cross-platform Workshop content; that does not create a session where your edits happen together.

Cross-platform Workshop sharing is supported; a shared live building session is not.
For building and placing downloaded work, continue with the Workshop blueprints guide. This page does not assume that downloading a creation merges two players' progress or creates shared ownership of a zoo.
Franchise trading is separate from co-op
Franchise lets you develop a network of zoos and Wildlife Reserves and trade animals with other players. The network and progression described for this mode do not contradict the game's single-player status: the supported player interaction is the trade, not simultaneous control of a park.
Choose Franchise if animal trading is the interaction you want. If your main requirement is building the same enclosure with a friend at the same time, Franchise does not satisfy it. The Franchise animal guide covers the animal-management side without treating the mode as co-op.
Offline play and cross-platform expectations
Frontier says Planet Zoo 2 can be played offline once downloaded. Downloading Workshop blueprints and sharing parks require an internet connection. That offline statement is not a promise that every connected feature, including player trading, remains available offline.
Cross-platform sharing is specifically confirmed for parks and blueprints. Do not extend that statement to cross-platform multiplayer or assume it proves that every marketplace or save system works identically across stores. There is no co-op mode to enable by switching platform or subscription tier.
