Planet Zoo 2 update 1.0.5, dated 16 October 2026, is the newest patch listed in the news index checked on 20 October 2026. It includes Franchise loading and trading changes, Career softlock fixes, a Taiga map-selection correction, animal improvements and building fixes. Check your platform’s installed version before retesting a problem.
The notes also identify continuing work on stability, saves, animal behavior and creative tools. A fix for a specific situation does not mean every crash, escape or connection problem has been resolved. This page separates recorded fixes from the issues still receiving attention.
Reviewed update index
| Version | Status in the reviewed information | Use this entry for |
|---|---|---|
| 1.0.5 | Dated 16 October 2026; newest patch in the news index checked on 20 October | The changes and remaining issues summarized below |
| 1.0.4 | Earlier update listed in the same index | Historical changes covered in the dedicated 1.0.4 guide |
A game update, server-side trading changes and a maintenance window are different events. The 1.0.5 announcement discusses changes made since launch as well as changes included in that patch. Where the distinction affects what you should check, it is kept separate below.
The index is a dated snapshot. It does not establish a future patch schedule or guarantee that every platform has installed the same build at the moment you read this page. Check the version on the device where the symptom occurs.

Choose the fix that matches your symptom
| Symptom or area | Change recorded in 1.0.5 | First useful check after updating |
|---|---|---|
| A new or flat Franchise zoo fails while loading | Loading stability was improved, with those zoos specifically noted | Retry the same affected zoo |
| Taiga Sculpted creation selects an unexpected reserve | The incorrect selection was fixed for Sandbox and Franchise creation | Repeat the intended biome, continent and terrain choices |
| Keyboard and mouse edge scrolling is missing | Edge Scrolling was added in Keyboard and Mouse settings | Inspect and set that option |
| Settings are lost after restarting | Several settings failing to save were corrected | Set the affected option, close and relaunch, then inspect it |
| Owned DLC animals appear inaccessible in Zoopedia | The incorrect access marking was fixed | Compare the current entry with the content you own |
| A Career objective has stopped progressing | Several named softlocks were fixed | Match the scenario and task to the Career table below |
| An expanded aquarium is not used by its shoal | Shoals failing to use new aquarium space were fixed | Inspect the same expanded aquarium and animals |
| A path width behaves incorrectly in feet | The width-setting problem using Feet was corrected | Retest the setting in the same measurement mode |
Start with the row that matches the actual problem. For example, a Zoopedia ownership warning is different from a species requiring higher Accreditation or having no current Animal Trading listing. The update does not make those conditions interchangeable.
Franchise loading, trading and connection changes
Update 1.0.5 improves loading stability for Franchise zoos, especially newly created zoos and flat zoos. It also extends the login window to reduce the risk of timing out while connecting.
The trading changes included in the update improve the male and female balance of animals offered for Cash from Frontier’s zoos and the balance of births in Franchise. Wildlife Reserves costing an incorrect amount of Conservation Credits were also corrected.
The announcement separately describes increased animal trading volume and server capacity among the work done since launch. Do not interpret every market or server change mentioned in the announcement as a new local setting you can switch on.
Separate access, supply and connectivity
If a species is unavailable, check which of these states you are seeing:
- A higher Accreditation tier is required.
- The species is accessible, but there is no suitable current listing.
- The account is not connected to Franchise services.
- The game is displaying a content ownership problem.
A market supply change does not earn Accreditation, and an Accreditation unlock does not guarantee a listing. Use the Accreditation guide when the game explicitly names a tier requirement.
The notes identify another possible connection problem: the profanity filter can match a banned word inside a username and show a server connection error. They direct affected players to support. The announcement also warns that VPN use, especially in Franchise, may contribute to connection problems. Those are possible causes to investigate, not proof that your own account or connection has that cause.
Franchise stability continues to be monitored. Record whether the failure occurs during sign-in, zoo loading or trading so that a remaining problem is described accurately.
Career fixes by scenario
| Scenario or situation | Problem addressed | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| Nordic Fjords | Deleting the Moon Jelly Exhibit before its objective caused a softlock | The exhibit was added as a placeable item |
| Great Rift Valley | Quick Release removed required giraffes from storage, preventing placement | Quick Release was disabled for the affected giraffes |
| East Africa | Opening Animal Trading while Alys discussed adopting a Shoebill caused a softlock | The conflicting interaction was fixed |
| Sumatra Reserve | Boxed animals could appear when loading the scenario | The loading problem was corrected |
| Career animal status | Adults could be marked as juveniles | The incorrect classification was fixed |
| Leaving Career | Notifications from certain objectives remained on the main menu | The incorrect notifications were fixed |
These are specific progression corrections. Match the active objective before choosing a remedy. A giraffe intended for a release-group task should not be handled as though it were an unrelated animal you want to quick-release.
If the problem continues on an updated installation, record the scenario, objective text, affected animal or item and the last action before progression stopped. The notes do not describe a universal command that restores every previously affected save.
Sandbox also receives a related fix: Terrain Only now functions when exporting a Career scenario to Sandbox. That concerns the export option, rather than the medal requirements of the original Career scenario.
Animals, aquariums and zoo management
The patch updates and corrects Zoopedia information and makes initial improvements to climbing animations. Use the current in-game animal information when planning a habitat rather than relying on a launch-period screenshot.
Aquarium changes address fish becoming stuck outside the aquarium when moving a habitat and shoals not using newly added space after an aquarium expansion. Vet staff getting stuck while removing deceased animals from aquariums were also corrected.
Other recorded animal fixes include:
- Albino Meerkat textures not loading.
- Large splashes when animals landed on wet beams.
- African Penguins walking on water.
The management fixes also correct inspection reports showing four stars when every aspect was rated five. If you are comparing an inspection report with the ratings beneath it, inspect the current report after updating before treating an older mismatch as a continuing rating rule.
A corrected inspection display is not a new Accreditation formula. Continue to use the tier requirements shown in the current mode.
Building, settings, Workshop and controls
Building fixes address the Basic Vet Surgery moving unintentionally during placement, incorrect Wildlife Reserve Ecosystem tooltips, focus remaining in the Object Browser search field, path width in Feet and ESC occasionally failing after the Nature Brush.
Update 1.0.5 also changes the following areas:
| Area | Recorded change | What to inspect |
|---|---|---|
| Item Browser | Filters and sorting reset on level load | Reapply a filter deliberately if a search looks different after loading |
| Workshop | Featured creations appear correctly in the Item Browser | The featured listing in the current browser |
| Gamepad | Edit Media responsiveness and Move versus Advanced Move behavior were corrected | The same panel or placement action that failed before |
| HDR | Calibration image adjusted | The calibration screen if you use HDR |
| Localization | Duplicate text during the Career introduction corrected in certain languages | The affected introduction text on the installed version |
The corrected complexity warning when loading a zoo at 100% complexity concerns the warning. It does not state that the console’s complexity limit has been removed or that additional capacity has been unlocked.
Stability and Steam Deck changes
The general performance work includes texture-streaming improvements intended to reduce pop-in. The patch also fixes an occasional crash when selecting an Ecosystem Brush in the Tanzania Reserve and a crash caused by assigning multiple commands to the same key.
A platform-specific entry for PC Steam fixes inability to connect to the server on Steam Deck Proton 11 and newer. That entry concerns that server connection problem; it is not a native operating-system release announcement or a blanket performance certification.
The notes do not provide measured frame-rate gains or loading-time comparisons. Retest the same location and action if you want to determine whether your specific symptom has changed.
Issues still receiving attention
The announcement continues to list these areas for ongoing improvement:
- Climbing, jumping and pouncing behavior.
- Animals aligning incorrectly with enrichment items.
- Erroneous habitat escapes during some behaviors.
- Animals being boxed more frequently than expected, including during migration in wild areas.
- Feedback on the core creative tools.
- Franchise stability after the initial fixes.
Save stability, Conservation Credit loss, crashes and performance also remain among the high-priority areas described in the announcement. The introduction says a regularly updated investigation post was planned; that plan alone does not establish a later post’s contents or publication.
If you still see one of these problems, record the game version and platform, the affected save or location, the species or object involved and a short sequence that reproduces it. Keep the expected result separate from the actual result. This makes it easier to distinguish an unresolved general issue from one of the specific cases already addressed.
